52. Francis Marion HACKETT (Thomas , Peter , John , Thomas , Thomas , Thomas ) was born in 1820/1826 in Buckingham County, Virginia. He died in 1861/1863 in Williamsport, Washington County, Maryland. He was buried in Williamsport, Washington County, Maryland.
He was known as "Marion". In 1859, according to the book "Land Tax Summaries and Implied Deeds", volume 3, Francis M. Hackett made a purchase of 150 acres on Rock Island Creek, 16 miles north of the courthouse. The land was sold by Francis Amos. On the 1860 census he was living on the estate of Isabella Irving, managing the farm. He served as a Private in Company D of the 56th Regiment, known as the Buckingham Yancy Guard. He was enlisted in the Confederate Army by Captain Camm Patteson on 23 July 1860/1 for 12 months. His last muster was October 1861 (Confederate Records, National Archives, Washington). The death claim of his wife says he died in Williamsport of sickness, but another source lists him as missing and supposed killed at Gettysburg. On the Buckingham County, Virginia Table of Land , 1869, Frances M. Hacket, his widow, was resident for life on 150 acres on Rock Island Creek, 15 miles north of the courthouse.

In 1899 Eliza V. Poore and G. Walker Ragland conveyed to him 42 acres adjoining John Hackett, Bettie Taylor and John Branch (Buckingham County, Virginia Deed Book 10, page 398). On 11 April 1903 Joseph Hackett conveyed this same land, which was bounded by the John P. Hackett Estate, to Willis W. On the 1880 Census they were back in Buckingham County, living at Marshall.

It is said that, at an early age, he went to South Carolina from Richmond County, Virginia. He was in Anderson County, South Carolina by 29 June 1814 as he and D. Summers witnessed the will of Aaron Terrill (Anderson County, South Carolina Will Book A, page 178), The Terrill will listed his wife, Hannah, sons Aaron, Moses, William Steele, and Joseph, and daughters Elizabeth Taylor, Sally Maho, and Nancy Davis. His wife and John Vernor were named executors. Lucinda Hackett was his second wife and mother of Sophronia, and his other younger children, if there were any.
